Not too long ago we penned an encomium to the Jaguar E-Type, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Even our boundless enthusiasm for the permanent classic pales in comparison to Bo Zolland of Swedish design firm Visualtech, however. Zolland has designed the Growler E in homage to the E-Type of yore, a modern supercar with style to spare and some tech borrowed from its current incarnation, the Jaguar XKR. With a hell of a lot more sex appeal, of course. Plans are to have the first example ready for delivery in 2012.
Of course the 600 hp beast – thanks to some tweaking of the XKR’s supercharged 5-liter V8 – won’t come cheap. The limited production vehicle will carry a hefty pricetag of between $700,000 and $1.4 million depending on how many get built, which in turn depends on demand. For that you can expect 0 – 60 mph in well under 4 seconds. The Growler will also have a composite body glued to a carbon fibre chassis, with front and rear tube frames holding the running gear. Buy two and you’ll probably be eligible for a discount.
Nice Car!
