For all those history fans, Christie’s has offered one of the rare opportunities to own one of the rarest artifacts – a Roman bronze helmet complete with face mask. Discovered by an anonymous metal detector in Cumbria, this “discovery of a lifetime” has been named the Crosby Garrett Helmet. Dating back to the 1st-2nd century AD, the helmet features a youthful male face with wavy hair along with never-seen-before griffin crest. Expected to fetch £300,000, Christie’s will display the helmet at its London salerooms for the first time today ahead of its sale next month.
